What is Cyber Essentials Plus?
Under the Cyber Essentials scheme, Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification offered. This official UK-wide, government-backed certification helps companies protect themselves against 80% of the most common cyber threats. Cyber Essentials Plus is designed for businesses that have matured their network infrastructure data requirements and have outgrown the minimum requirements of the basic Cyber Essentials scheme.
Completing the certification allows your organisation to display the official Cyber Essentials Plus badge, which demonstrates that you take your cyber security seriously and that you have met government requirements to respond to the threat.
According to the Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2020, 46% of businesses identified breaches or attacks at least once a week. The survey also found that among the 46% of businesses that identified breaches or attacks, one in five (19%) have experienced a material outcome, losing money or data. Two in five (39%) were negatively impacted, for example requiring new measures, having staff time diverted or causing wider business disruption.

How do I become Cyber Essentials Plus certified?
IASME’s new guidelines now require all Cyber Essentials Plus customers to hold a basic certification that was purchased no longer than three months prior to the Cyber Essentials Plus application. Therefore, to apply for Cyber Essentials Plus or renew your Plus certification, you first need to become Cyber Essentials Basic certified. Cyber Essentials Plus certification includes an additional internal scan and an assessment of your systems.
This level of certification is right for you if:
• Your business has employees who work from home or in remote locations • Third-party businesses have access to your premises or IT systems
All you need to do is follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Purchase Cyber Essential Basic which is £300 +VAT
Step 2: From there all you need to do is complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaire and submit the form on the IASME portal (logins for this portal will be sent via email, password logins will be sent via SMS post purchase)
Step 3: Once you have submitted the Self-Assessment Questionnaire, you will receive your PDF certification. Once you have this, our cyber experts will contact you directly to begin the Plus process.
Christmas and New Year Holidays: Please note, due to the Christmas & New Year Holidays, we are unable to audit any Cyber Essentials Questionnaires between 24/12/2021 and 04/01/2022. Normal service will resume on 05/01/2022.
