Cyber Essentials Self-Assessment Questionnaire

Cyber Essentials Questionnaire

This year, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) will make some changes to the Cyber Essentials scheme to prepare it for the future. The current five Cyber Essentials accreditation bodies will be replaced by a single body. From 1 April 2020, the IASME Consortium will be operating as the sole accreditation body for the scheme.

In light of this transition, Cyber Essentials Online will become an IASME-accredited certification body from April this year. We will continue to provide the best standard of cost-effective service that our customers expect from us and will ensure the transition to this new arrangement is coherent. In the meantime, and in accordance with current cyber policies supported by the NCSC, our customers will continue to be certified under CREST, while all existing and new certifications will continue to be legitimate and in line with current requirements and policies.

What is Cyber Essentials Plus?

Completing this certification allows your organisation to display the official Cyber Essentials Plus badge, which demonstrates that you take your cyber security seriously and have met government requirements to respond to the threat.

The first step to obtaining Cyber Essentials certification, whether you are applying for Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus, is the completion of the self-assessment survey (the survey is the same for both certification levels). You can download a sample copy for free here.

The purpose of this Cyber Essentials assessment questionnaire is to establish whether your organisation has the necessary cyber security measures in place to help protect against the most common forms of cyber attack.

The Process

Have your IT services validated as suitably secure

Cyber Essentials contains a detailed set of information requirements. You will need to make sure your systems and software meet these cyber security guidelines before you move on to the next stage of certification.

During this process, you may be required to supply various forms of evidence (for example website or contact information) before our Certification Body can secure your certification at the level you seek.

Complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaire

Having understood and met the requirements above for due Cyber Essentials assessment of your IT services, you will be ready to complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaire and submit this to your Certification Body. The actual questionnaire which you complete will be supplied by our Certification Body (QG Business Solutions).
