The inaugural Cyber Scotland Week is happening from 22 to 28 April 2019.
Cyber Scotland Week is a joint initiative between the Scottish Government and ScotlandIS. The initiative plans to bring together influencers and industry experts across Scotland to explore and learn about the innovations and challenges in this fast-changing threat landscape.
Tackling cyber crime in Scotland
The Scottish Government published its ‘Cyber crime in Scotland: evidence review’ last year. This report has drawn attention to the vulnerabilities that come with the increased number of people in Scotland using the internet and the potential for criminals to exploit this growth.
The review identified a number of knowledge gaps for the Scottish Government, who admitted that moving forward “[we] need to know more about cyber crime in Scotland”.
Cyber Scotland Week
Cyber Scotland Week organisers are hosting events across the country with venues in Stirling, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Cumbernauld, Perth, Inverness and Edinburgh taking part.
Organisers have also teamed up with CYBERUK, the UK Government’s flagship cyber security event, hosted by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The showcase, to be held at the SEC, Glasgow on 24-25 April, will feature world-class speakers, solutions and opportunities for interaction between the public and private sectors.
To celebrate Cyber Scotland Week and CYBERUK, Cyber Essentials Online is sharing a £50 discount code!
For a limited time only, this can be used when purchasing Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus or Cyber Essentials Fast Track from the Cyber Essentials Online website.
Cyber Essentials enables organisations to be certified independently for having met a good practice standard in cyber security and protects businesses from around 80% of cyber attacks as simple security controls must be set in place for certification.
